In the next few weeks, a new network will make its way into the Canadian broadcasting landscape. It won't have flashy graphics or ranting hosts, but it will have news and more news presented in the old fashioned way. It won't be popular and it will be reviled by conservatives. Al Jazeera English will, however, provoke debate using words with more than two syllables. It will give an alternative view we in the west are not usually privy to on the TV screen. Congratulations to the CRTC for a belated but much welcome gift.
