The democracy they yammer about for places like Libya is only another version of the same co-optive "representative democracy" that works so well for the corporate elites here. This was predicted by observers of the Jasmine Revolution even before NATO jumped into the fray, that the only reason they would do so was to make sure that the resulting regime following the revolution would be a democracy manageable by the usual means. Actual direct democracy, or any new form of it, was to be avoided, subverted, discredited, always invoking the shibboleth of an Islamist regime as the only other outcome to their own plans.....similar things went on to subvert Solidarnosc in Poland 30 years ago, and in Eastern Europe 20 years ago.
There's a reason that the "victorious freedom fighters" are waving the flag of the old Kingdom of Libya - somebody had to manufacture and supply all those flags, which you can bet weren't kicking around warehouses in Libya for 40 years. Installing a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary government is to be the tool of neoliberal domination; not any kind of new government, or new vision. But more of the same.....

Skookum1a,
Did you read "Manifesto For a Real Democracy" by "Democritus" too?
