This is sweet. Chris Hedges exposes Kevin O'Leary's snotty, condescending name calling during an interview on CBC's Lang & O'Leary Exchange.
Lang: Well I see you and Kevin could get into an absolutely huge argument here.
Hedges: I don't usually go on shows where people descend to character assassination. If you want to discuss issues that's fine but this sounds like Fox News and I don't go on Fox News. Either you discuss the issues ... look you have had very eloquent writers - people like John Ralston Saul in Canada - who've laid this out with incredible lucidity and to attack this critique by calling someone a 'nutcase' engages in the kind of trash talking that's polluted the corporate airwaves.O'Leary's stunned response to Hedges' eloquence is to argue that he used the term 'nutbar' not 'nutcase'. Hilarious.

Delicious. I "reblogged" you.
Thanks Dawg. I just wish CBC would allow embedding of their videos so we can pass around the goodness. Everybody who claims CBC is liberal should see this.
Oh My. Kevin O'Leary and Chris Hedges? I can't decide who I dislike more. This is actually a pretty mild interview by both of their standards. When you write a book called "American Fascists"--whether the title is apt or not (and I think it is)--you do lose some right to complain about your own mistreatment. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
P.S. That definitely isn't Amanda Lang.
I haven't watched any news networks for quite some time. Your assertion that "this is actually a pretty mild interview" is all the evidence I need not to resume watching. No guest deserves to be called names no matter what book they're written. And I certainly don't buy the argument that Hedges deserves this kind of treatment because of the title of one of his books is "American Facists". If Jonah Goldberg had been the guest, O'Leary would have been cupping his balls.
It was really more of an example than anything. The point is that Chris Hedges isnt the most civil of people himself. He should have thicker skin than this.
Amanda Lang was not on the show - the interviewer was "fill-in" host Dianne Buckner
Chris Hedges is one of the most eloquent and intelligent people in the media. I have followed his interviews for quite sometime now and was surprised to see that Kevin Cockroach would even try to debate a man of his intellect let alone treat the guy like he was on an episode of Dragon's den. I don't think we can question cbc's political leanings but you sure know that the cockroach is ultra right wing. Isn't that the way the right deals with intelligent critics to start name calling? I don't think that when debating an issue of such brevity, Chris hedges should be "thicker skinned", he should be shown respect when invited as a guest. Last week Chris hedges in showing support for the occupy wall streeters said and I quote, "you are either a rebel or a slave".I could think of a few other choice words to fill in the blanks to describe K.O. Ass comes to mind.
Lang wasn't there that day. I believe later it was written that O'Leary mistook Hedges for a protester and not the Pulitzer prize winner that he is. There's CBC trying to cover for O'Leary ... again.
I never watch the progam, but tuned in the next day before the news. O'Leary was f..cking on about taxing the people instead of the corporations to create jobs. In other words, kiss the corporations' asses so they will let some people have some jobs. He then went on to say something absolutely horrifying. He suggested 'carpet bombing' Slovakia if the country keeps holding out on the EU's vote to 'recapitalize' the European banks.
Does anyone else get the feeling O'Leary was one of those schoolyard bullies that stole other children's lunch money?
Why doesn't CBC just get rid of him and change the show's name to 'The Lang Report' before it completely loses all its integrity?
