Occupy Vancouver live photo blog DAY 2 Oct 16

11:30 Much quieter today. Tents, cops, meditation, dogs, signs and more signs, media, sun, smiles, music, dancers, a ragtag bliss.

Day one and day three photos. Click images to embiggen. Updates below. Latest 4:30 PST.

2:30

4:30 Getting chilly out here. As the movements moves on, the older folks who dominated Saturday are giving way to the younger people. While law enforcement concern trolls fret that the 'radicals' have taken over, it's more that the youth's endless energy has survived an exhausting weekend. The media's reaction has been as much a condescension towards youth as it is towards non-conservative leanings.

The fellow below shows the movement's diversity. His slightly drunken speech was amusing and heartening, if not downright erudite. That's the way it's gone this weekend. Very little if any references to violence or radicalism. A lot of peace talk and praise for the police. But you won't be reading that in the media.

5:45 Foodstuffs coming in for long, cold night. One gentleman perched on one of the lions waving huge modified American flag. Exercising in the central court. Still pleasant, friendly, peaceful crowd. The right must be going nuts! Sad to see far-right bloggers from Toronto and Alberta hijacking the #OccupyVancouver hashtag. Jealousy's a bitch.
